CHAPTER 2...Some graves contained more than one inhumation, perhaps female slaves sacrificed on the death of a male owner and included in the grave to accompany him in the next world.

 

CHAPTER 2....Several cases of typhoid fever have broken out in the village of Walesby.

 

CHAPTER 3...Timothy Laurence is the great grandson of the Reverend Perceval Laurence and the second husband of HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal.

 

CHAPTER 4...Committed suicide by taking a corrosive sublimate during a fit of temporary derangement.

 

CHAPTER 4...In 1847 the building was operating as an alehouse under the tenancy of George Rawlinson.

 

CHAPTER 5...Starved to death on Walesby Wold, 29th Dec 1739.

 

CHAPTER 6...but then in May 1901 her mother committed suicide in the School House.

 

CHAPTER 6...again, headmistress Miss Bruce returned to Walesby from Market Rasen in a state of intoxication.

 

CHAPTER 7...Walesby had its first post office facility in 1876 and the service continued for 114 years until its demise in 1990.

 

CHAPTER 7...The apprentice, known locally as Blackie, remained with Fred all his working life, eventually retiring in the early 1980s when the smithy closed.

 

CHAPTER 8...The drama group performed at the Walesby Institute presenting plays such as 'Easy Money' in 1954 and 'Acacia Avenue' in 1953.

 

CHAPTER 8...Robert Wilkinson is buried in Dozingham Military Cemetery, Belgium along with 3,057 other British servicemen.
